Access

Grasstops understands the importance of having ALL voices heard by decision makers.  They have been instrumental in assisting the Council On Black Minnesotans on developing youth access in public policy.

Gloria Lamphear, Council on Black Minnesotans Board Member & Former Grasstops Policy Fellow

Grasstops recognizes that some constituents and nonprofit organizations face barriers due to societal inequities and discrimination.

Grasstops believes that no voices should be excluded from the legislative process due to discrimination or barriers to access.

Grasstops addresses this barrier by partnering with organizations that work alongside marginalized populations, like the Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless, the Pay Equity Coalition and the Council on Black Minnesotans.  Grasstops also strives for inclusion by mentoring emerging leaders and providing advocacy and lobbying 'shadowing' opportunities for clients looking to gain policy experience.

In 2007 Grasstops was part of the advocacy effort that successfully engaged youth and youth service providers in securing $1 million in state funding for Runaway and Homeless Youth Services!
