PolicyCorps Training Institute
An innovative service-learning program that will provide reliable, accountable coverage of the legislative session, specific to your policy interests.
Services provided to nonprofit or community group participants by the PolicyCorps:
- Coverage of the legislative session, specific to your interests provided by trained Policy Fellows. Information is more detailed than the information already available to the general public.
- Information disseminated in an open and unbiased manner by a trained Policy Fellow who will personally alert each organization of pertinent information as it arises and through weekly updates.
PolicyCorps participants will be nonprofit organizations or community groups interested in becoming more active at the Capitol, but are limited by capacity, budget or time.
The PolicyCorps continues Grasstops mission of "Ensuring All Voices Are Heard." Our goal to increase the ability of nonprofit and community groups to impact public policy, so that these vital groups may be proactive in the political process.
Services are offered on a sliding fee scale.

Policy Fellowships Available
Grasstops, Inc., The Center on Women and Public Policy at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs & The Minnesota Women's Consortium proudly present the:
PolicyCorps Training Institute
An innovative service-learning program providing reliable, accountable coverage of the Minnesota State legislative session, specific to the interests of nonprofits and community service groups.
Responsibilities of Policy Fellows:
- Policy Fellows will monitor 1-2 committee meetings throughout the 2009 legislative session, getting to know legislators and committee staff members.
- Policy Fellows will get to know nonprofit participants (mission, populations served, programs and services, etc.) and the legislative interests of each organization.
- Policy Fellows will immediately alert each organization of pertinent information as soon as it becomes available as well as provide weekly updates to all nonprofit participants.
- Policy Fellows will gather and disseminate information in an open and unbiased manner by immediately alerting each organization of needed information as soon as it becomes available.
- Policy Fellows will attend a pre-session training (at which they will hear from current policy advocates, legislators and other professionals), and weekly PolicyCorps team meetings.
Policy Fellows are individuals interested in learning more about Minnesota state politics and gaining experience in public policy. Recent graduates of bachelors' or masters' programs, students, returning or mid or late-career professionals are encouraged to apply. Participation is Dec.-May.
