Time
The ability of nonprofit organizations to partake in advocacy efforts is often hindered by mere lack of time. These groups have organizations to run and services to provide; activities that rightfully take precedence over spending time at the state capitol monitoring bills and meeting with legislators. Grasstops believes that lack of time should not prevent a nonprofit's voice from being heard at the State Capitol. |
Grasstops addresses this barrier by having multiple staff at the Capitol on a daily basis, who provide lobbying and advocacy services to nonprofits, as well as offer additional 'eyes and ears' monitoring legislative activity. Additionally, Grasstops' Policy Corps program provides over 2,500 of legislative monitoring and bill tracking for its nonprofit clients each session, allowing nonprofits to stay informed while maintaining focus on their missions. |
The Minnesota Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (MNAHPERD) is a statewide organization. Most MNAHPERD members teach, and therefore are not able to spend time at the State Capitol. Therefore, Grasstops advocates on behalf of MNAHPERD for the passage of statewide Physical Education standards. |
